Eligibility:

Do Something and Atlantic Records artists M2M are joining forces to offer twenty-five $500 grants to help YOU start a Do Something club at your school and turn your ideas for a better community into action! It can be stopping violence in schools, ending racism, preventing drunk driving or protecting the environment. Whatever the cause that's up to you. So stand up, speak out and Do Something!

Eligibility:

Students ages 8-18 in the United States who have participated in any of the Institute's past programs or who live in Illinois or Wisconsin.

Awards:

Grants will range from $50 to $1000. These funds can only be used for school-based, community-based, or individual student-run businesses that will be started sometime between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2002.

Deadline:

The deadline for proposal submission is mid April. Grant award winner notification will be after May 1.

Eligibility:

Youth/adult grants in partnership with a variety of organizations. Grants depend on the organization participating and change often.

Awards:

Depends on the grant. It can range anywhere from $200 to $5000.

Deadline:

Determined in conjunction with funding partners. Once a particular grant is announced, grant proposals are normally solicited for a two-month period.

Eligibility:

Youth Action Award applicants must:

  • Be a youth age 25 or younger
  • Describe the service project you or your organization led on National Youth Service Day this year.
  • Post the above project on www.YSA.org/NYSD and www.SERVEnet.org.
  • Describe your plan to link your service project with an effort to affect public policy through civic action. A detailed budget must be included.
  • Complete a project evaluation within deadline (if awarded).

Awards:

$500 grants to fund your plan for sustainable change based on your Youth Service Day project this year.

Deadline:

Applications must be received by the beginning of June.

Non-smoking teens ages 12 to 18 can apply for these grants.

Awards:

Five grants of $10,000 each to help keep other kids in the community from lighting up.

Entrants must partner with an adult at their school or other organization to plan and execute their submission. Each entry must include a mission statement, overview of the proposed program, program objectives, staffing requirements, timing of program, program budget, and a way to evaluate success.

 

[spacer]Venus and Serena Williams - Doublemint's Aces for Campus Excellence (A.C.E.)

Eligibility:

Applicants must submit a 500-word (or less) essay or VHS tape (five minutes or less) demonstrating the following:

  • Your impact on your college campus or community
  • The distinctiveness of your contribution(s)
  • Your commitment to serving your campus and/or community
  • Awards:

    If you're chosen for the DOUBLEMINT A.C.E. team, you'll receive an initial $1,000 grant and an opportunity to receive additional money based on the number of aces served by Venus and Serena Williams during selected matches at Sanex WTA tennis tournaments.

    In addition, the Williams sisters will personally choose one member from the DOUBLEMINT A.C.E. Team who they feel is the most distinctive to receive an additional $10,000 grant and opportunity to meet with them in person!
